Special Education
Abington Public Schools evaluates, determines eligibility, and develops Individual Education Plans for all eligible students. This process encourages parents and staff to be equal partners in determining the services necessary to demonstrate effective progress in the educational environment. Services are provided in the least restrictive setting and a continuum of services is available, as determined by the IEP teams. These include, but may not be limited to, related services such as Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapies, Counseling, and Assistive Technology. Specially designed instructional services are provided by special education staff. Although the location of the services is most often in the general education classroom, some students require services provided in other locations outside the classroom.
