AMS GRADE 8 WASHINGTON DC TRIP - VOLUNTEERS

Chaperones for the Grade 8 Washington DC trip, which is Thursday, June 5th - Saturday, June 7th, will be a combination of teachers and Grade 8 parents. If you are interested in being a Grade 8 Washington DC trip chaperone, please fill out the specific chaperone application in the AMS Main office along with a Cori form (which can be found on the Abington Public School website) and return them to the main office by Friday, December 20, 2024. Chaperone selection is limited to the availability of chaperone spots. Chaperone selection will be random and announced during the month of January.

Gr. 8 Washington DC Trip Financial Aid Information

Financial Aid Assistance is available for the Grade 8 Washington DC trip, the application is available in the AMS main office. To be considered for financial aid, an application must be received by Friday, December 20, 2024. Please note that applying for this assistance does not guarantee that money will be awarded. The total amount awarded is dependent upon fundraising.

We are excited to let you know that we have been able to add a few more seats to the bus for the 8th grade Washington DC trip. This means we have re-opened our registration until Friday, December 6th. If you are interested in signing up your student for this trip, please call or stop by the main office. We are excited to announce our upcoming 8th grade trip to Washington DC. This educational journey will provide students with a firsthand look at our nation's capitol and its rich history. Please see the detailed itinerary attached and the presentation on the AMS website.

Dates: Thursday, June 5 to Saturday, June 7, 2025

Day 1: Travel to DC, visit National Museum of American History 

Day 2: Tour of monuments and memorials, dinner cruise on the Potomac 

Day 3: Visit to Capitol Hill, return home

Exciting News: Abington Middle School Grade 8 Students to Embark on Educational Trip to Washington, D.C.!

We are thrilled to announce that Abington Middle School grade 8 students will have the opportunity to take an unforgettable educational trip to Washington, D.C. from June 5-7, 2025! This enriching experience will complement the grade 8 Civics curriculum and provide students with a firsthand look at our nation's capital.

Trip Highlights:

  • Visit to National Monuments and Memorials: Students will explore iconic landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the National World War II Memorial.

  • Tour National Government Buildings: Gain insights into the workings of our government with visits to the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the White House Visitor Center.

  • Dinner Cruise on the Potomac River: Enjoy a scenic dinner cruise on the Potomac River, offering breathtaking views of the city's skyline.

Important Dates:

  • Student Information Meeting: Wednesday, October 3, 2024, during the school day (students will receive registration and fundraising information)

  • Parent Information Session: Monday, October 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Abington Middle/High School Auditorium
