Message from the Principal

September 13. 2021

Good Morning Abington Parents, Students, and Families,

I wanted to take a moment and share a couple of brief updates as we enter the week ahead.

Wave Week Wednesdays - Returning to Abington High School will be Wave Week Wednesdays. Twice a month on Wednesdays, school will start one hour later for students, giving our staff time to collaborate and work on school and student learning goals. Students may arrive to school at 7:00 am, but many are excited about gaining an extra hour of sleep on those days. Our first Wave Week Wednesday is September 15, 2021. Busses will run their usual routes and normal pick up times. Students may arrive at the building as early as 7:00 am, where they can report to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students will be supervised in the cafeteria during our planning meetings. Homeroom begins at 8:30 on Wave Week Wednesdays, so please help your students plan their travel accordingly. For your future planning, here are all of the scheduled Wave Week Wednesdays for the year ahead.

September 15, September 29, October 13, October 27. November 3, November 17, February 2, April 27, December 1, February 16, May 11, December 15, March 9, May 25, January 5, March 23, June 1, January 19, April 13, June 15

Also, starting on September 14, 2021, students may enter the building as early as 7:00 am. When you pull up to the school for drop off, families are encouraged to drop their students off either to wait outside or come inside at 7:00 am. Additionally, the high school will open free breakfast for students starting at 7:00 am. We hope this earlier drop off option can help alleviate some of the traffic around the high school and get folks on their way a little quicker

Regards, Jonathan Bourn, Principal
